DNA

We humans are rarely if ever satisfied with the world around us.  We are always trying to improve it.  For thousands of years man has been trying to make "better" living things.

Imagine that you are a molecular biologist and have all the latest technological equipment at your disposal.  How would you use your knowledge and skill to make the world a better place to live?  Why would you choose to make this particular improvement?  Would you make these improvements at all?  Maybe you feel it would be unethical to change the course of nature.

In this learning module you will discover what genetic engineering is all about.  You will learn the evolution of genetic engineering, how genetically modified organisms are produced, and the uses of these organisms.  Finally as a result of your research, you will evaluate and discuss the ethics of genetic engineering.

To begin your journey, click each topic in order and answer the questions within each section.  The pages that you must answer the questions from are as follows:

What is Genetic Engineering
GMO's
The Big Question

You will have three days to complete the total assignment.  Print the question page as directed by clicking on the Print  icon.
These questions will serve as a chapter test.
